The road

Vadgaon on the map

From Rajaram Bridge on the city side, Sinhagad Road strikes out through Vitthalwadi, Hingne and Anand Nagar to Vadgaon, then Dhayari, Khadakwasla and the fort it is named after. Vadgaon, in two parts called Budruk and Khurd, is the stretch closest to the Mutha, and home to the Sinhgad institutes’ campus.

Schools, colleges, hospitals and shops have served Vadgaon for years. Getting into town was the weak point, and 2024 to 2026 brought three answers: a flyover across the worst junctions, approval for a metro line down the road, and riverfront works on the banks close by.

Three projects reshaping the commute

Each one is dated and sourced. Infrastructure plans move, so treat future dates as estimates.

  • Flyover: fully open since September 2025Three openings: 520 m at the Rajaram Bridge junction (August 2024), the 2.1 km span from Vitthalwadi to Fun Time (1 May 2025) and the Goyal Ganga Chowk to Inamdar Chowk stretch (1 September 2025). Total cost was about ₹118 crore, and peak-hour journeys between Rajaram Bridge and Fun Time reportedly dropped to around 6 minutes from about 30.Reported by Free Press Journal and Punekar News, May and September 2025
  • Metro Line 4: approved, contractors being pickedThe Union Cabinet cleared Pune Metro Lines 4 and 4A (roughly 31.6 km, 28 stations) on 26 November 2025. Line 4 runs from Khadakwasla down Sinhagad Road to Swargate and on to Kharadi. Maha Metro began choosing contractors for the Dandekar Bridge to Khadakwasla stretch in June 2026, and building is estimated at around three and a half years once work is awarded. Stations have not been finalised.Reported by Punekar News, 26 November 2025 and 27 June 2026
  • Riverfront works, Vadgaon Khurd to Rajaram BridgeOn 7 August 2026 the PMC cleared roughly 4.1 km of riverfront work from Vadgaon Khurd to Rajaram Bridge: embankments, drainage, planting and jogging paths. The citywide riverfront plan is still being reviewed by the state, so dates are estimates.Reported by Punekar News, August 2026 and April 2026
